Marie Fablet, a lecturer at the Biometry and Evolutionary Biology Laboratory in University Lyon 1, has just been appointed to the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) as a Junior Member. The IUF is a prestigious institution that designates a group of researchers, after selection by an international jury for the exceptional quality of their work. Marie Fablet's research focuses on understanding the regulatory mechanisms of transposable elements in genomes, with an integrative approach including molecular biology, population genetics and bioinformatics. Her current project, initiated as part of a project funded by the Labex Ecofect and continued as part of her ANR young researcher, aims to study the impact of viral infections on the dynamics of transposable elements. It has already led to important articles in the field (Roy et al, PNAS, 2020). Congratulations Marie!
